Reading and Acting on Your Sales Performance Data
Think of your funnel in four steps: Search views → Menu views → Orders → Sales. Work through them in order — each one tells you whether the problem is visibility, appeal, conversion, or order value.
Search views — how often you show up in relevant searches
Low? Visibility is your problem. Improve your search ranking through strong operational performance, or add paid visibility (ie. Sponsored Listings)
Check your settings: A low delivery radius or high lead time can cause you to show up in less searches
Invest in marketing: Use Sponsored Listings to place your business in front of high-value customers searching for businesses like your
Healthy? Move to menu views
Menu views — how often people click into your menu after seeing you
Strong search views but weak menu views? Your listing isn't standing out enough to earn the click. Focus on making your listing more compelling — stronger photos, rewards and pricing (ie. lower delivery fees).
Customers tell us they love rewards. Adding 4 or 5X Rewards to your listing can help entice more clicks to your menu.
Healthy? Move to orders.
Orders — how many of those menu visits turn into a placed order - your conversion rate. Use the conversion rate bar to assess if you are performing better or worse than your peers. Low conversion rates mean you’re leaving money on the table and running inefficient ads.
Healthy menu views but low orders? Something on the page is losing people. Check your menu variety, photos, pricing. Some key menu items to consider:
Customers rely on photos - especially new customers. They are more likely to order when high-quality photos of the food are available
Customers need to order for dietary restrictions. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free items need to be available and tagged
Customers need to order for different groups. Make sure you have easy-to-build packages and individual items like boxed meals, orderable in quantity of 1
Healthy? Move to sales
Sales — the revenue those orders generate
Orders steady but sales flat or down? Your average order size is shrinking. Look at packaging, bundles, and add-ons to support bigger orders
Sales growing faster than orders? Order sizes are increasing — a good sign
Use year-over-year to confirm you're on the right track. Whatever changes you make — menu updates, pricing, ads, operational fixes — check the same metric against last year a few weeks or months later:
Trending up year-over-year → the changes are working. Keep doing them
Flat or down year-over-year → the changes aren't moving the needle. Time to try something else
Bottom line: Move through the funnel in order, find where the drop-off is, make one focused change to address it, then use the year-over-year comparison to confirm whether it worked.
